GALLUP, N.M. (AP) - A former manager of a Navajo Nation chapter in Tuba City, Arizona, faces 86 tribal criminal charges accusing her of pocketing $1 million earmarked for scholarships, grazing operations, capital improvements and other public purposes.

The Gallup Independent (https://goo.gl/RZlBna ) reports that a criminal complaint filed by the tribal Department of Justice accuses Priscilla Littlefoot of fraud, theft and falsification allegedly committed over several years.

No phone is listed for Littlefoot and it’s not immediately known whether she has an attorney who could comment on the allegations.

Tribal Attorney General Ethel Branch says the charges reflect a betrayal of trust and stem from a long-running scheme during which Littlefoot abused her position to divert chapter funds for her own personal use.

Branch says the tribe wants Littlefoot to repay nearly $1,060,000.
