LAKELAND, Fla. (AP) - A corrections officer in Florida who officials say acted drunk at his daughter’s soccer practice was arrested after he grabbed the arm of a deputy.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release Wednesday that 27-year-old Joseph Hicks faces charges of battery on an officer and resisting an officer without violence.

Deputies say Hicks was acting drunk and disorderly at the practice and deputies were called after he refused to leave the park.

Sheriff’s officials say Hicks flashed his corrections badge to the deputies and then grabbed the arm of a deputy.

He was then taken into custody and handcuffed.

Hicks works as a corrections officer in neighboring Osceola County.

His first appearance hearing is scheduled for late Wednesday. He couldn’t be reached for comment.
