WOODBRIDGE, Va. (AP) - A Virginia man has been arrested after authorities say he broke into a woman’s home multiple times and assaulted her.

Prince William County police said in a daily incident report that they arrested 27-year-old Joshua Barrett on Monday.

Police say Barrett broke into the woman’s home in Woodbridge on April 27. Barrett hit the 23-year-old woman several times and prevented her from leaving.

He left before police arrived and entered the home once again after police left. Barrett entered the home for a third time April 28. Authorities say he woke up the woman, smashed her phone and stole liquor as the victim called police.

Police say the suspect is an acquaintance of the victim.

Barrett is charged with multiple offenses including burglary and battery. It’s unclear if he has an attorney.
