Pamela Anderson praised Melania Trump’s “beauty and grace” Wednesday after the first lady thanked the animal-rights activist for giving her a faux fur.

Mrs. Trump penned a letter to Ms. Anderson dated April 20 thanking her for the “beautiful” eco-faux fur, which the former “Baywatch” star custom-designed with Russian faux-fur manufacturer Only Me.

“I am thankful for your support and encouraging words; they mean a great deal,” the first lady wrote. “Together, we can empower more women to stand up for their beliefs. Thank you for your thoughtful note and gift. God bless you and your family.”

Ms. Anderson, an honorary director of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), took a photograph of the letter and tweeted it to her 1.08 million followers Wednesday morning.

“Dear Melania,” she wrote. “Thank you for your sweet note. It is heartwarming to see you manage your position with such beauty and grace.”

Mrs. Trump has been spotted numerous times wearing authentic fur in the past, but her office told CNN Wednesday that that’s no longer the case.

“She does not wear fur,” said Stephanie Grisham, Trump’s East Wing communications director.

She confirmed that the first lady sent the thank-you letter, “as is common practice for her,” CNN reported.

PETA also praised the first lady for her fur-free stance.

“Melania first attended a PETA fashion show years ago that featured one of her favorite designers, Marc Bouwer, a longtime PETA supporter who uses no fur, leather or exotic skins in his collections,” Dan Mathews, PETA senior vice president, said in a statement. “More recently, Pamela Anderson sent elegant Melania a stylish faux fur, as well as a video showing how animals are cruelly killed in the wild and on fur farms, so it’s no surprise that she is now fur-free, following in the footsteps of so many fashion icons and First Ladies.”
