VERNON, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say a crash at an intersection near Los Angeles has left six people injured, five of them critically.

The two vehicle crash happened around 1 a.m. in the city of Vernon about five miles south of downtown LA.

Vernon police Sgt. Brandon Gray says investigators are trying to determine whether the crash was caused by a driver who ran a red light.

Gray says five occupants of one vehicle were hospitalized in critical condition. The driver of the other car is stable.

He says investigators do not believe drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
