MOORESVILLE, N.C. (AP) - Everyone involved survived after a police chase in North Carolina ended in a DWI suspect’s collision with an oncoming car, totaling both vehicles.

The Charlotte Observer reports (https://bit.ly/2qyank7 ) North Carolina State Highway Patrol 1st Sgt. B.T. Owenby says 19-year-old Daniel Preiss lost control of his car during Wednesday’s chase and was traveling sideways when he hit the Jack Thesier’s car.

Preiss was traveling with an 18-year-old passenger, while Thesier had his 10-year-old son in the car. Owenby says all four had seat belts on and experienced only minor injuries and soreness.

Preiss was arrested on charges of driving while impaired, felony speeding to elude arrest, driving while license revoked and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon. It’s unclear if he has a lawyer.
