SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) - A Northern California preschool is temporarily closed after vandals smashed windows and trashed rooms where children play.

KTVU-TV reports (https://bit.ly/2pO1gel ) that the owner of Tomorrow Montessori School in San Jose, California arrived Thursday to find broken glass, ransacked rooms and destroyed furniture.

The infant room was the most damaged, with diapers, formula and glass shards everywhere. The carpeting must be replaced because babies crawl over it.

School owner Joyce Brown says the school serves about 115 families.

Brown said the intruders likely hopped a wall and used playground equipment to break a window. She said surveillance cameras malfunctioned. They intend to hire security.

The break-in spoiled plans for a May the Fourth Star Wars party Thursday.
