HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) - A zoo in Mississippi is mourning the death of a 5-year-old Sumatran tiger.

The Hattiesburg Zoo says in a news release Monday that Cinta (shin-TAH) died Sunday after a sudden illness.

A necropsy will be done at a Mississippi State University veterinary lab in Jackson, and results will be released in coming weeks.

Cinta and his twin brother, Kuasa were born Aug. 2, 2011, and have been on permanent loan from the Los Angeles Zoo since January 2014.

The tigers have shared a habitat in Hattiesburg.

Zoo officials say Kuasa shows no sign of illness.

Stephen Taylor, animal care manager of Hattiesburg Zoo, says Cinta suddenly stopped eating and drinking last week and became dehydrated. Fluids were administered, but his heart stopped and he could not be revived.
