BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - The House Ways and Means Committee jettisoned a package of four bills that would have lowered most individuals’ income tax charges in exchange for raising some businesses’ income taxes. Seven lawmakers voted for the first measure in the package, while 11 voted against it. After that vote, all the bills were shelved without objection.
