PITTSBURGH (AP) - A former western Pennsylvania gymnastics coach convicted of sexually abusing three former students has been sentenced to 13 to 26 years in prison.
Forty-six-year-old Keith Callen of Sarver was convicted in March in Allegheny County of several charges including sexual assault by a sports official and corruption of minors.
Prosecutors said he molested a teenage girl while he was her private coach as well as two sisters in 2001 when they were 6 or 7.
Defense attorney Patrick Thomassey asked Judge Donna Jo McDaniel on Tuesday for a 22-month sentence, but the judge said she believed he was a danger to the community.
She also noted that he was seen holding hands with one of his gymnastics students despite an order requiring him to stay away from minors during trial.
