FREEHOLD, N.J. (AP) - A former nursing home employee has admitted that he sexually assaulted an elderly female patient.

Monmouth County prosecutors say Todd Fulton pleaded guilty Monday to sexual assault and official misconduct charges.

The 43-year-old Hazlet man faces a seven-year state prison term when he’s sentenced July 28. He also will have to register as a sex offender.

Authorities say the assault occurred in 2015 while Fulton was a nursing assistant at the Geraldine Thompson Nursing Home in Wall Township, which at the time was owned by the county.

The woman told home officials about the assault but couldn’t identify her attacker by name at the time. Authorities say the subsequent investigation led them to Fulton.
