LAS VEGAS (AP) - Police in Las Vegas say no criminal charges are anticipated in the death of a 6-month-old girl in an attack by a family dog that officers are calling a tragic accident.
The Clark County coroner identified the child on Tuesday as Kamiko Dao Tsuda-Saelee.
Police Officer Laura Meltzer says the girl was playing in a walker near the dog before the Monday afternoon attack, which the child’s mother tried to stop.
Officers arrived at the house in northwest Las Vegas while the child was taken to a hospital. She was pronounced dead a short time later.
The dog was taken into custody by county animal control officials.
A county spokesman identified the animal as a pit bull mixed breed, and said animal control had no previous history at the house.
