GRAHAM, N.C. (AP) - A human trafficking ring bust has yielded six arrests in North Carolina.
News outlets report the ring was broken up in Alamance County on Monday after several agencies combined to find seven potential victims and arrest six people.
The Alamance County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release that much of the investigation centered on prostitution, some of which was suspected of being involuntary. No charges of soliciting for prostitution were initially issued.
Authorities arrested 22-year-old Levina Conyers, 22-year-old Christian Alexander Blakely, 46-year-old Elizabeth Lynn Locklear, 18-year-old Destini Imani Frazier, 31-year-old Evelin Lopez Umana and 37-year-old Tia Marie McMillan. Offenses against them range from drug charges to probation violation.
It’s unclear if the accused have lawyers.
