EVERETT, Wash. (AP) - A Camano Island man accused of shooting a 34-year-old man to death has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder.
The Daily Herald reported Friday that the prosecution and defense for 37-year-old Ezekiel Scannell-McCrae recommend he receive an 18-year sentence.
Scannell-McRae is accused of shooting and killing Joseph Hicks outside his home on July 2016.
According to court papers, the shooting occurred after Scannell-McCrae had stayed in Hicks’ home for the night.
He confronted Hicks outside his home after he was asked to leave the next morning.
A witness told police he saw Scannell-McRae fire at Hicks multiple times.
Court papers say Scannell-McRae remained at the scene waiting for deputies to arrive.
Scannell-McRae’s sentencing is scheduled for December.
