HONOLULU (AP) - Wesley Person led five Troy players in double figures with 17 points, including four 3-pointers, to help the Trojans beat Arkansas-Pine Bluff 81-57 on Sunday night at the Outrigger Resorts Rainbow Classic.

Javan Johnson scored 13 points, Jordon Varnado added 11 and Shawn Hopkins and B.J. Miller had 10 points apiece for Troy (1-1).

Kevin Baker hit a 3-pointer to open, and Varnado scored seven points during a 25-7 run to open the game and the Trojans never trailed. Charles Jackson scored eight-straight points during a 10-0 run that trimmed UAPB’s deficit to eight points with 3:29 left in the first half, but the Golden Lions (0-2) got no closer.

Hopkins and Baker hit back-to-back 3s to give Troy a 38-22 lead 1½ minutes into the second half and Person added two more 3-pointers during a 12-0 run that pushed the lead to 27 points with nine minutes to play.

The Trojans shot 50.9 percent from the field, including 10 of 25 from 3-point range, and limited UAPB to 30-percent (18-of-60) shooting. Jackson led the Golden Lions with 16 points.
