ATLANTA (AP) - Federal prosecutors say an Atlanta man has been sentenced to spend more than three decades in prison for a string of armed robberies.
The U.S. attorney’s office in Atlanta said in a news release Thursday that a judge sentenced 28-year-old Deanthony Foster this week to serve 32 years. Foster was also ordered to pay nearly $25,000 in restitution.
Prosecutors say Foster wore a surgical mask and carried a gun during robberies of seven businesses, mostly Walmart stores, in the Atlanta area in 2015. One time, they say, he shot into the floor while demanding money.
Prosecutors say Foster and others worked together, with some of them acting as getaway drivers. They communicated by cellphone before and after the robberies.
Foster pleaded guilty to the charges in August.
