DUBLIN, N.C. (AP) - A standoff that began when a North Carolina man fired at his grandfather and sheriff’s deputies ended after about six hours.

The Fayetteville Observer reports Bladen County Sheriff Jim McVicker says 20-year-old MacKenzie Brisson was found safe in a pickup truck Tuesday evening when a SWAT team entered the home and garage shared with his grandfather.

McVicker says no one was hurt, and authorities never returned fire during the day. Brisson was taken to a hospital, and the sheriff described him as “very irate.” No charges have been filed.

McVicker said he was told Brisson’s girlfriend broke up with him Monday and he was given a prescription medication the same day.

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office had sent a robot into the house, and found it had been extensively damaged.
