CRESAPTOWN, Md. (AP) - Officials say two inmates and two correctional officers were injured in an altercation this week at a western Maryland prison.

The Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services says two officers broke up a fight Tuesday afternoon between two inmates in the dining hall of the maximum-security North Branch Correctional Institution.

The Times-News reports a male officer suffered two puncture wounds and a female officer experienced breathing problems. The two inmates received injuries from a homemade weapon.

All four were taken to a hospital by ambulance with injuries not considered life-threatening.
