QUINCY, Mass. (AP) - Prosecutors say a 92-year-old woman who was pushed down and robbed in Massachusetts last week was targeted by two people with an addiction to heroin.

Both 26-year-old Kayla Noel-Brown and 27-year-old Markell Cruz have pleaded not guilty to robbery and assault charges.

In court filings that were made public Monday, Noel-Brown says the two were planning on buying the drug before they encountered Doris Prendiville Nov. 19.

Citing police records, The Boston Globe reports Noel-Brown had “no idea” Cruz would rob the woman. The defendant says she helped Prendiville back into her building before fleeing.

Noel-Brown’s grandfather backed up her account after Monday’s arraignment, saying she “met the wrong guy.”

Prosecutors say Prendiville suffered from bloody knuckles and a fractured sternum.
