LAS VEGAS (AP) - A reality TV star presented families with shopping carts full of gifts paid for by the nonprofit Pay Away the Layaway.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports author and former Playboy model Kendra Wilkinson presented the gifts to about 15 families who had their outstanding layaway balances covered at a Las Vegas Kmart on Tuesday.

Wilkinson says this time of year is about taking part in events like this and “helping bring smiles on people’s faces.”

Dulce Ayala says she couldn’t afford Christmas gifts for her children last year, but this year she will be able give her 4-year-old daughter a toy refrigerator paid for by the organization.

The event fell on Giving Tuesday, the movement aimed at promoting charity following Thanksgiving.
