The Washington Redskins added former Navy star Keenan Reynolds to the practice squad Wednesday, the team announced.

Redskins coach Jay Gruden said Reynolds is a candidate to be a kick returner.

To make room for Reynolds, the Redskins waived Shakeir Ryan from the practice squad.

At Navy, Reynolds was a duel-threat quarterback — setting an NCAA record for 88 rushing touchdowns by a quarterback. He threw and rushed for more than 4,000 yards in his college career and led Navy to their first 11-win season in 2015.

Drafted in the sixth round by the Baltimore Ravens in 2016, Reynolds was released in September.
