CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) - Two Corpus Christi police officers have been hospitalized after their patrol vehicle was hit by an SUV.

Police tell Corpus Christi television station KRIS the SUV was traveling in the opposite direction when it hit the officers’ vehicle early Sunday.

Their injuries are described as serious but not life-threatening.

Authorities say the driver of the SUV has been detained on suspicion of driving while intoxicated but no charges have been immediately filed.
