CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say the former chairman of Long Island’s North Hempstead Democratic Party is facing up to five years in prison for tax evasion.

U.S. Attorney Bridget M. Rohde says 62-year-old Gerard Terry of Roslyn pleaded guilty Thursday to evading taxes totaling $992,000 between 2000 and 2015.

Prosecutors say Terry, an attorney, got income from “numerous government and quasi-government positions” in Nassau County.
