TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities say a Pima County SWAT deputy fatally shot an armed man during an encounter when the man came out of a residence following an hours-long barricade situation.

The Sheriff’s Department says 34-year-old Luis David Flores was shot after he came out of the residence in the Picture Rocks area west of Tucson with a gun in each hand and refused multiple commands to drop the weapons Monday.

The department says the incident began when deputies responded to a domestic dispute and that the shooting occurred following five hours of attempts to negotiate a peacefully end to the situation.
