FARMINGTON, Maine (AP) - A University of Maine at Farmington police officer has been charged with drunken driving.

The Sun-Journal reports Farmington police arrested 43-year-old Christopher Chase on Sunday following a traffic stop. Police say Chase wasn’t on duty at the time of the arrest.

Police have charged Chase with operating under the influence. Livermore Falls Police Chief Ernest Steward Jr. says Chase has been placed on administrative leave with pay.

The Wilton man was released from Franklin County Detention Center on Monday. It wasn’t immediately known if he had an attorney.

Chase had previously been charged with operating under the influence in 2008.
