WILLCOX, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities say one person was killed in the crash of a single-engine plane north of Interstate 10 about 15 miles (24 kilometers) east of Willcox.

The Cochise County Sheriff’s Office says it appears the dead person was the only occupant of the plane when it crashed Thursday morning but that a search is underway in the vicinity in case anybody else was on board.

The dead person’s identity wasn’t released.

Federal Aviation Administration Ian Gregor says circumstances of the crash aren’t immediately available and that the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate.
