FREEHOLD, N.J. (AP) - A man convicted of the repeated sexual assaults of a 7-year-old girl has been sentenced to 25 years in prison.

Santiago Gonzalez-Ruiz will also have to register as a sex offender under the sentence imposed Friday and will be on lifetime parole supervision.

A Monmouth County jury has convicted the 59-year-old Lake Como man in April on aggravated sexual assault and child endangerment charges.

Prosecutors say the assaults occurred during a six-month period in 2014. They say Gonzalez-Ruiz eventually fled the area but was arrested in April 2015 in Glen Cove, New York.
