ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - In an Oct. 21 story about disaster funding for the village of Newtok, The Associated Press reported that state Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management director Mike O’Hare apologized to the village on behalf of the agency after it said the community’s application for housing funding was incomplete. The story should have made it clear that O’Hare apologized for the frustration felt by community members over the loss of grant funds, not the agency’s conduct, spokesman Jeremy Zidek said Nov. 2.
