CHINA GROVE, N.C. (AP) - Motorists using Interstate 85 in Rowan and Cabarrus counties will encounter night-time closures as workers install beams as part of ongoing bridge replacement.

The N.C. Department of Transportation says the delays involve the southbound lanes between mile markers 63 and 68 as crews install beams for the N.C. 152 bridge in China Grove.

Closures begin at midnight and last until 6 a.m. beginning next Thursday through Saturday, Nov. 4.

Southbound traffic will use U.S. 29 and Lane Street for the detour route. Law enforcement officers will be stationed along the detour to help traffic move through the area.

The entire project involves replacing and rebuilding several bridges over I-85 to meet current design requirements and eliminate substandard clearances. The project is scheduled to be complete by November 2019.
