THOMPSON, Pa. (AP) - Authorities say a woman told investigators that her former boyfriend threatened her in his Pennsylvania home, but they allege she acknowledged picking up a rifle and shooting him to death while he was on the ground.
Thirty-one-year-old Cassandra Mercincavage is charged with criminal homicide in the death of 49-year-old Robert Hubal, whose body authorities said was left in his Thompson Township bedroom for nearly a week.
Police said their five-year relationship soured and he ordered her to leave. State police said Mercincavage said he threatened her with a gun Sept. 26 and she cut him with a knife. They allege she then picked up the rifle and shot him three times and later hid the weapon.
The Susquehanna County public defender’s office didn’t immediately return a call seeking comment Tuesday.
