FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) - A jury has found a Colorado man guilty of first-degree murder in the death of his ex-girlfriend.

Jurors also found 19-year-old Tanner Flores guilty of felony murder and second-degree kidnapping on Wednesday after a weeklong trial.

Prosecutors said that Flores convinced 18-year-old Ashley Doolittle to get inside his truck then shot her repeatedly with his father’s gun.

Flores‘ attorneys argued that he was devastated by the couple’s breakup but didn’t plan to kill Doolittle. Flores testified during the trial and said he didn’t plan to shoot his ex-girlfriend.

The Coloradoan reports that Doolittle’s family left the courtroom without commenting. Flores‘ family declined to comment.

Sentencing is scheduled for Thursday. Flores faces life in prison without a chance at parole.

Prosecutors decided not to seek the death penalty last month.
