TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - A trial date has been set for early next year for a former University of Arizona assistant track and field coach accused of stalking and assaulting a student-athlete.
Pima County Superior Court records show Craig Carter is scheduled for a 10-day jury trial beginning March 27.
Carter has been charged with aggravated assault, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, stalking with fear of death and disrupting an educational institution.
The felony charges stem from an April 2015 incident.
The Arizona Daily Star reports (https://bit.ly/2xWvtKh ) that Carter is accused of holding a box cutter to student-athlete Baillie Gibson’s throat, threatening her, trying to strangle her and attempting to drag her out of a classroom.
