PINETOP, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities say a man is dead and a Pinetop-Lakeside police officer injured after a violent confrontation at a Pinetop home.

Police say the incident began around 10 p.m. Sunday.

A woman called 911 to express concern for her daughter-in-law because she thought her son was intoxicated and had threatened to shoot his wife.

Two officers were dispatched to the home and say 46-year-old Glenn Southwood Jr. began shooting at them.

A policeman was wounded in a leg during the exchange of gunfire.

Police say Southwood then barricaded himself in the home for hours before officers found his body on the side porch around 3:30 a.m. Monday.

It’s unclear how he died. Police say the incident is under investigation.
