GREEN RIVER, Wyo. (AP) - A Green River man who is accused of crashing into a home and killing a 62-year-old woman and her 1-year-old great-granddaughter is awaiting sentencing after changing his plea.
The Rock Springs Rocket-Miner reports (https://bit.ly/2zaU7qm ) George Eluid Maestas pleaded no contest to three charges on Friday.
Under a no-contest plea, a defendant does not admit guilt but acknowledges that prosecutors may have enough evidence to convict.
Maestas faces up to 50 years in prison and $25,000 in fines, extra court and treatment fees for two counts of aggravated vehicular homicide and one count of driving under the influence of a controlled substance.
His sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 12.
