4 armored car company employees charged with cash theft

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Four Alabama employees of a nationwide cash distribution company have been charged with stealing money from the company.

AL.com reports that Jefferson County Deputy District Attorney Joe Roberts says Loomis Fargo Inc. noticed money shortages and started an investigation that yielded four arrests between Aug. 18 and Aug. 23.

Roberts says 24-year-old Samuel Earl Burks and 23-year-old James Dustin Blackwell are accused of stealing $4,000 each and are each charged with first-degree theft of property. Roberts says 25-year-old Malcolm Samuel LaMotte is accused of stealing $965 and 22-year-old Nicholas Sean Sanders is accused of taking $815. LaMotte and Sanders are charged with third-degree theft of property.

All four have posted bond and are set to make their first court appearance on Sept. 13. It’s unclear if they have lawyers.
