NEW YORK (AP) - The New York Police Department says seven officers and a sergeant responding to a noise complaint were sickened when they went into a heroin-laced apartment.
Assistant Chief Juanita Holmes says the officers felt nauseated and suffered tingling in their fingers after they went inside the Queens apartment on Friday.
The officers found a 39-year-old man acting irrationally. They gave him the anti-overdose drug naloxone and took him to a hospital.
Holmes says the officers reported a strong odor from fumes when they opened the door. They were treated at a hospital and released.
A search warrant later turned up the heroin.
