PATERSON, N.J. (AP) - Police in New Jersey have arrested a Virginia man on gun and drug charges following a traffic stop.

The Record reports (https://njersy.co/2golq8i ) the 29-year-old Norfolk, Virginia, man has been charged with several offenses including unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of marijuana.

According to Passaic County Sheriff Richard Berdnik, detectives noticed the suspect had a broken taillight and wasn’t wearing a seatbelt as he circled an area in Patterson on Wednesday. Detectives stopped the suspect.



Police say detectives turned over a bag of marijuana to them. According to police, detectives then searched the vehicle after spotting a handgun in the passenger seat. Police say detectives found a tactical rife along with another handgun and ammunition for the three guns in the trunk of the car.
