ROANOKE, Va. (AP) - Authorities are investigating the death of an inmate at the city jail in Roanoke, Virginia.
The Roanoke Times reported Sunday that Joshua Matthew Jones was found hanging from a bed sheet in his cell on Saturday night.
The 35-year-old was unresponsive. The discovery was made about 9:55 p.m. during a routine security check. He was pronounced dead about 40 minutes later after CPR and other life-saving measures failed.
Jones had been in the jail since Sept. 2. He was being held without bond on charges including drug possession, larceny and failure to appear.
