FAIRPLAIN, W.Va. (AP) - Authorities say a small plane has made a safe emergency landing on Interstate 77 in West Virginia.

Jackson County Sheriff Tony Boggs tells WCHS-TV that the plane landed in the northbound lanes of I-77 on Monday afternoon between the Ripley and Fairplain exits about 30 miles north of Charleston. No injuries were reported.

The plane’s origination and destination and how many people were on board weren’t immediately known. Calls to the sheriff’s office were answered by the county’s emergency operations center. An operator said she had no details and that the sheriff’s office was available for comment.
