BAWCOMVILLE, La. (AP) - A Louisiana man is charged with aggravated assault after deputies say he wielded a golf club while chasing two people who were reading water meters.

The News-Star reports that both meter readers said 53-year-old Tommy J. Bouwell of Bawcomville appeared to be intoxicated. They told officers that Bouwell was sitting on his back steps of a home until they tried to remove a water meter cover. Then, they said he went into the house and came back out swinging a golf club while telling them: “‘Y’all coming at me with a weapon, I got something for you.’”

Bouwell was taken to the Ouachita Correctional Center and booked on two counts of aggravated assault. Bond was set at $2,000.

It was not immediately clear whether he has an attorney.
