MANTUA TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) - A Maryland woman who police say attacked her ex-husband’s new wife with a hammer after breaking into his New Jersey home has pleaded guilty.

Forty-four-year-old Marie Stewart pleaded guilty to attempted murder on Monday without a sentencing recommendation by the prosecution. Sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 12, 2018.

Prosecutors say Stewart broke into Mantua Township home of her former husband and his new wife in 2012. Once inside, she attacked the woman with a hammer, dislocating her shoulder.

The charge carries a sentence of 10 to 20 years in state prison.
