WOODLAWN, Md. (AP) - Baltimore County police say they’re conducting a use-of-force investigation after off-duty officers chased down men who allegedly robbed a bar they were in.

The Baltimore Sun reported Friday that the officers were celebrating a police sergeant’s retirement. Two men demanded cash from the carryout register before fleeing.

A police incident report said the suspects ignored the officers who identified themselves and told them to stop.

The report said the officers tackled one suspect when he appeared to pull a gun. The report said one officer delivered “a series of punches to the face” of a suspect who continued to resist.

The report said the weapon was a pellet gun. The report said the suspects, 21-year-old Joseph McInnis III and 22-year-old Tyree McCoy, suffered injuries. The officers’ names were not released.
