AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) - The Governor’s Energy Office says the price of heating oil is rising in Maine as fall nears.

The statewide average cash price for No. 2 heating oil was $2.19 per gallon this week. The office says that is 16 cents more than it was in late August.

The statewide price of kerosene was also up 28 cents, to $2.86. Propane prices have gone up 2 cent per gallon in that time to $2.38.

The energy office says the price increases are due in part to the disruption in the petroleum industry caused by Hurricane Harvey last month.

The state found the highest heating oil price was $2.42, while the lowest was $1.95. Northern Maine had a higher average at $2.35 per gallon.

The figures reflect a Sept. 18 survey.
