NORTHUMBERLAND, N.H. (AP) - A New Hampshire woman has been accused of having the deadly synthetic drug carfentanil in her car.
Police said 27-year-old Jacqueline Haas, of Northumberland, New Hampshire, was stopped by a trooper Saturday night for an apparent equipment violation. Police said an investigation led to the discovery of what they believed to be the drug.
Authorities say there have been at least 11 confirmed deaths in New Hampshire from the elephant tranquilizer, which is now being mixed with heroin with fatal results.
Haas has been arraigned on drug possession charges. It wasn’t immediately known if she had a lawyer and a number couldn’t be found for her.
