CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - Charges have been bound over to Laramie County District Court for a Wyoming man accused of killing his girlfriend’s 2-year-old son.
John Barrett appeared in court Wednesday to hear whether the state had enough probable cause to move forward.
Barrett is charged with two counts of first-degree murder in commission of a felony, one count of first-degree sexual abuse of a minor, one count of felony child abuse and one count of aggravated child abuse.
Barrett’s attorney asked the court to dismiss Count II - which alleges Barrett did, in the perpetration of sexual abuse, kill the child - arguing there was no evidence that sexual assault caused the child’s death. The court ruled there was sufficient probable cause to bind all five counts over to District Court.
