SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) - Police say a 13-year-old boy was killed and another child was injured when they were struck by a vehicle in Springfield that allegedly left the scene.

Capt. Richard Labelle says the children were struck on Breckwood Boulevard at about 7:15 p.m. Sunday.

One child, identified Monday as Nathaniel Acevedo, died at the hospital. The other victim, whose age has not been released, is expected to survive.

Police charged 35-year-old Joshua Cutler, of Springfield, with leaving the scene. He was held on $35,000 bail after pleading not guilty to that charge and had his bail revoked in an unrelated case.

He was assigned a public defender who did not immediately respond to a call for comment.

The investigation remains ongoing.
