JERSEY CITY, N.J. (AP) - A driver in New Jersey is in police custody after hitting and killing a woman and fleeing the scene - the second fatal hit-and-run in less than 24 hours.
Jersey City spokeswoman Jennifer Morrill tells NJ.com (https://bit.ly/2hxJyJG) the woman was struck on Routes 1 and 9 around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday.
The driver fled the scene but was stopped by police a short time later. No other details have been released.
The accident is causing some delays during the morning rush.
On Tuesday morning, a woman was killed when an SUV ran a stop sign in North Bergen. The driver fled and no arrests have been made.
