MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - The Vermont Association of Snow Travelers and the state have reached an agreement concerning construction on a 93-mile trail statewide trail.

Vermont Public Radio reports (https://bit.ly/2fBoT6Y ) VAST, the Vermont Agency of Transportation and the state’s Natural Resources Board finalized an agreement this week on the Lamoille (luh-MOYL’) Valley Rail Trail. Under the agreement, remaining construction projects on the trail will be taken out of Act 250 Jurisdiction.

VAST executive director Cindy Locke says the agreement will expedite the process. The group leases the rail corridor from the state Agency of Transportation.

A little less than a third of the trail is currently open. Construction on a portion stretching from Sheldon to Swanton is scheduled to start next spring.
