WEBSTER CITY, Iowa (AP) - A scrap piece of an old movie screen has been used for temporary repairs on a screen that was vandalized at a refurbished movie theater in central Iowa.

Authorities discovered the damage Wednesday evening at the Webster Theater in Webster City. Police say they’ve charged a 17-year-old with burglary and are seeking an adult on the same charge. Their names haven’t been released.

The patch is visible, but it at least will keep the theater open for movies. Officials say the damaged screen will be replaced.

The building opened in 1906. It closed in 2013 but was resurrected in 2014 after a community fundraising drive brought in donations for the renovations. New carpeting and seats were installed more recently.
