PIERRE PART, La. (AP) - A Louisiana teenager who admitted to stealing a bridge tender’s lunch box has been sentenced.
The Courier of Houma reports 18-year-old Thomas Fontenot was sentenced to three years in prison after pleading guilty to simple robbery last week.
Tyler Cavalier with the 23rd Judicial District Attorney’s Office says the Pierre Part Bay Bridge tender had recently finished her shift and was walking to her vehicle when someone ran behind her and took her lunch box in January. The lunch box contained a cellphone, checkbook and credit card.
Detectives later learned that Fontenot had been bragging about the crime. Some of the victim’s items were recovered and returned to her.
